Overview
The Mardi Himal is a brief and uncomplicated trek in the Annapurna Region. The Mardi Himal 6 Days Trek commences just after a two-hour drive from the renowned tourist hub of Nepal, Pokhara. The trek presents breathtaking views of the magnificent mountains in the Annapurna Region. The Mardi Himal Trek was once a lesser-known trek in the Annapurna trekking area, but it has seen a significant rise in foreign and local tourist numbers in recent years.
The trek begins with approximately a two-hour drive to Kande from Pokhara. Once we reach Kande, our walking path officially starts as we embark on our hike to Australian Camp. The trail is moderate and easy to navigate. It becomes somewhat steeper towards Australian Camp and then downhill to Pothana from Australian Camp. The initial part of this trek is simple and manageable for beginner trekkers.
Unlike other trekking paths, this route does not traverse through local villages from Pothana. The trekking trail runs under the trees, providing an adventurous feel even on this easy trek. As the altitude increases, the size of the trees begins to diminish. The Mardi Himal Trail is abundant in jungle resources, filled with rhododendron and alpine trees.
Upon reaching high camp, the temperature starts to drop, and you may even experience dizziness. There is a significant possibility of mild symptoms such as dizziness while arriving at high camp. High Camp serves as the final stopping point before Mardi Himal Base Camp. In clear weather, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the Mardi Himal and other mountains in the Annapurna Range.
After walking for two to three hours early in the morning, you will arrive at the Mardi Himal base camp, which stands at an elevation of 4200 meters above sea level. Mardi Himal Base Camp provides the most stunning views of the magnificent Annapurna Range. The viewpoint at Mardi Himal Base Camp offers an incredible sunrise illuminating the mountains. To witness this view, you must be fortunate enough to have favorable weather conditions.
Annapurna Mountain Range
From the Mardi Himal Trek trail, one can observe the exquisite and expansive views of the Annapurna Mountain Range. Fishtail, Annapurna, Mardi, and Dhaulagiri are the mountains visible along this trail. When the weather is clear, these mountains can be seen up close. Experiencing so many mountains from a close distance is truly extraordinary.
Mardi Himal Base Camp
Situated at an elevation of 4250 meters above sea level is the highest and most distant point we will reach on this trek. The Mardi Himal base camp and multiple viewpoints along the way provide the finest views of the Mardi Himal and Annapurna Range during sunrise, provided the weather permits.
Mardi Himal
Mardi Himal reaches a height of 5587 meters and serves as the primary attraction of this trek. We will arrive at the base of Mardi Himal to enjoy the closest perspective of Mardi Himal from the Mardi Himal Viewpoint. Mardi Himal appears aesthetically stunning from afar, and the peak itself is designated as a “Trekking Peak” by the Government of Nepal.
Badal Danda
Badal Danda is the notable viewpoint along the Mardi Himal Trek that appears along the trail, offering a natural and picturesque view of the various mountains of the Annapurna Himalayan range. This also represents a major stop for travelers. On a clear day, the unobstructed views of numerous peaks such as Annapurna, Fishtail, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Mardi captivate you with their breathtaking sights.
